Why We Baptize In Jesus Name

Grace + 0 = Salvation?

Grace + 0 = Salvation?

Grace is one of the most misused and misunderstood words. Some have said, "Grace plus nothing equals salvation." So there are some who believe that grace alone has done it all. But is this what the Bible teaches? One scripture often quoted is found in Ephesians 2:8  "For by grace are ye saved through faith." The Bible also says in Titus 2:11, "..the grace of God that bringeth salvation hath appeared to all men." If the statement that grace plus nothing equals salvation where true then this would mean all of humanity would be saved. If this were the case then why would we need the Bible? Why would we need to go to church? Why would we need to do anything? If grace plus nothing equals salvation then why would we even need to believe in God? It is clear from the scripture that not everyone will be saved,"Not everyone that saith unto me, Lord, Lord, shall enter into the kingdom of heaven; but he that doeth the will of my father which is in heaven" (Matthew 7:21). Notice not everyone will be saved, also notice that the obedient will be saved. God's grace caused Him to manifest Himself in flesh as Jesus Christ, assume limitations, freely give Himself on Calvary and arise on the third day for us. Grace is not a license to sin (Romans 6:1-2). To receive the grace of God we must exercise faith. The Bible says, “Without faith it is impossible to please him…” in Hebrews 11:6. Faith is more than joining a local church, faith is more than “accepting” Christ and reciting a “sinner’s prayer.” Has he accepted us? Peter said in Acts 10:35, “..he that feareth him, and worketh righteousness, is accepted with him.” Remember, this is about more than saying, “Lord,Lord.” Jesus said, “..Except a man be born of water and of the spirit, he cannot enter into the kingdom of God.” (John 3:3-5) Jesus even stated that those who believe on him will receive the Holy Ghost (John 7:38-39). Jesus said, “He that believeth and is baptized shall be saved..” in Mark 16:16. True faith is shown by obedience. Obedience is not the same as the works of the law, the works of the law will not save us. If there is no obedience to the gospel then there is no faith. Jesus said, “..except ye repent..” in Luke 13:3. He even commanded the disciples to preach repentance and remission of sins in his name beginning at Jerusalem (Luke 24:47). In the beginning of the new testament church they had Moses and the Prophets (Luke 24:27, 44). One of the lessons we find on grace is found in Genesis chapter six, Noah found grace in the eyes of the Lord (Genesis 6:8). Then God gave Noah a plan to build an ark, by faith Noah moved with fear and built the ark (Hebrews 11:7). This shows an example of grace being given by God and then received by Noah through obedient faith. God will not force us to be saved, it's our choice. Noah’s example was given as a like figure to baptism according to 1 Peter 3:20-21. Notice Peter said,”..baptism doth also now save us..” The same Peter preached on the day of Pentecost and made it plain what the hearers needed to do to be saved. Those hearing Peter preach said, “..what must we do?” To which Peter replied, “...Repent, and be baptized everyone of you in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins, and ye shall receive the gift of the Holy Ghost.” (Acts 2:38) Have you obeyed the gospel of death (repentance), burial (baptism), and resurrection (Holy Ghost)? As Paul said in Acts 19:2, “..Have ye received the Holy Ghost since ye believed?” Much of this teaching is rejected by modern churches, why? Where the disciples wrong in following the commands of Jesus? Yes we must believe, but we must also repent. Yes we must have the grace of God, but we must also have the covering of the blood by baptism in Jesus name. We must have the Holy Ghost (Romans 8:9). “How shall we escape, if we neglect so great salvation..?” (Hebrews 2:3)

What Meaneth This?

(Please read and consider the following. Feel free to contact me. There are a few important Bible passages being overlooked today, let's remember all scripture is given by inspiration of God.)

Acts 2:37 Now when they heard this, they were pricked in their heart, and said unto Peter and to the rest of the apostles, Men and brethren, what shall we do?

Acts 2:38 Then Peter said unto them, Repent, and be baptized every one of you in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins, and ye shall receive the gift of the Holy Ghost.

Acts 2:39 For the promise is unto you, and to your children, and to all that are afar off, even as many as the Lord our God shall call.

The Book of Acts records the beginning of the New Testament church, here in Acts chapter two the Holy Ghost has been poured out for the first time. Those filled with the Holy Ghost included Peter, James, and Mary (the mother of Jesus). The recipients of the Holy Ghost began to speak with other tongues (Acts 2:4), and this was noised abroad (Acts 2:6). Those on looking where amazed and began to ask WHAT MEANETH THIS? (Acts 2:12) Others even mocked, some still mock today. But Peter stood up with the Eleven and began to preach and to tell the people exactly what all this meant. Peter preached that what was happening was a fulfillment of Joel's prophesy (Joel 2:28-29, Acts 2:16-18). Peter went on to preach to them Jesus, that he was both Lord and Christ (Acts 2:36). After being convicted in their hearts they ask Peter what shall we do? Lets examine what Peter told them to do.

First, he responded to them repent. Repentance was commanded by Jesus (Mark 1:15, Luke 13:3). Repentance is not merely saying "I'm Sorry" and then continuing the same lifestyle. Repentance is a change in mind and direction, a turning. (Ezekiel 18:30, Acts 26:20) God desires that all of mankind would repent (2 Peter 3:9). With repentance will come evidence (fruit) of a change in your life (Matthew 3:8,Acts 26:20). We are instructed of the Lord to preach repentance. Paul preached repentance (Acts 26:20) as a turning to God. It was Jesus whom gave the instructions for repentance and remission of sins to be preached in his name starting at Jerusalem (Luke 24:47). That leads us to baptism and the remission of sins.

Next, Peter gave them instruction to be baptized. Baptism was also instructed by the Lord (Matthew 28:19, Mark 16:16, Luke 24:47). As evident by the word of God, baptism is essential for salvation (Mark 16:16, 1 Peter 3:20-21, Romans 6:4). The true Bible believer will be baptized (Acts 8:12, Acts 18:8). Biblical baptism is by immersion, it is equated to a burial of the old man. (Romans 6:4, Acts 8:39). Never is a burial just a sprinkling of dirt. As evident from scripture they came up out of the water. It is for the remission of sins, the very reason that Jesus shed his blood. (Hebrews 9:22, Matthew 26:28). Repentance is a turning, remission is a washing away (Acts 22:16). Paul was commanded to be baptized to wash away his sin calling on the name of the Lord. The blood was shed for our remission (washing away) and is applied through water baptism in Jesus name. The only valid mode of baptism is when administrated in the name of Jesus (Acts 4:12). Every example of baptism in the New Testament church is in the name of Jesus (Acts 2:38, Acts 8:16 Acts 10:48, Acts 19:5, Acts 22:16). Baptism in Jesus name remits and washes away our sins. No where in the New Testament church will you find anyone being baptized any other way, they directly followed the command of Jesus (Matthew 28:19). Name is singular while Father, Son, and Holy Ghost are all titles. According to the Bible he (Jesus) came in his father’s name (John 5:43) and the Holy Ghost would be sent in his name (John 14:26). For in him dwelleth all the fullness of the Godhead bodily (Col. 2:9). After baptism we then have a promise of the Holy Ghost.

The true believer will receive the gift of the Holy Ghost (John 7:37-39). Without the Spirit of God (Holy Ghost) we are none of his (Romans 8:9). Paul asked those in Ephesus in Acts 19 if they had received the Holy Ghost since they believed? (Acts 19:2) A true believer (the Obedient) will receive the gift of the Holy Ghost (Acts 5:32). The initial evidence of receiving the Holy Ghost is speaking in other tongues (Acts 2:4, Acts 10:46, 19:6). The initial evidence of the Holy Ghost is not to be confused with the gift of tongues. Everyone who receives the gift of the Holy Ghost will speak in other tongues as the initial evidence. How can we bear the fruit of the Spirit as we are instructed to, without the Spirit? Jesus gave them the instruction to receive the Holy Ghost (Acts 1:8, John 20:22). Once an individual has been baptized in Jesus name and Holy Ghost filled they complete the New Birth (John 3:3-5). We must be born again to be saved.

Once we have experienced the plan of salvation we then are instructed how to live for God (Romans-Revelation). Some are still asking, "What meaneth this?" In perilous times like our world is experiencing today, we need to hear the truth. We need to have the answer, and that answer is JESUS. From the upper room on the day of Pentecost till now the church has never ceased to exist nor changed. We must be born again, we must know how to be born again. Philip went down to Samaria in Acts chapter 8 and preached Jesus, when Jesus is preached people are baptized in his name and filled with his Spirit. (Acts 8:4-17) We must hear the same message no matter how good a person we may be, and no matter if we are Gentile or Jew. In Acts chapter 10 the Bible records that Cornelius was a good man, yet Cornelius was lost until he heard the word of God preached. (Acts Ch. 10, Acts 11:14) He had to hear the word of God to be saved, and he had to believe and obey. It is no different for us today. We need to know the answer to, "What Meaneth This?" Our world is hungry for true Christianity, the Apostles doctrine that changes lives (Acts 2:42). Have ye received the Holy Ghost since ye believed? Remember there are no exceptions we must be born again. Not everyone that saith Lord, Lord shall enter into the Kingdom of God, like those in the parable of the kingdom of heaven found in Matthew 22:11-12 some will be found without a wedding garment. What garment will they be missing? The garment of salvation described in Isaiah 61:10; could it be they refused to obey the gospel?

Take A Stand

Take A Stand

Proverbs 28:4  They that forsake the law praise the wicked: but such as keep the law contend with them.

Psalm 106:30-31Then stood up Phinehas, and executed judgment: and so the plague was stayed. And that was counted unto him for righteousness unto all generations for evermore.

You will not live for God without having to contend for truth and righteousness. There will be contention with false prophets, false doctrine, sin, and spirits of wickedness. This contention is not our desire, for none of us like confrontation. Rather this contention will happen simply because the world lieth in sin, and men love darkness rather than light. Any and everyone who stands for truth will contend with this world while trying to save the people of this world.

Jud 1:3  Beloved, when I gave all diligence to write unto you of the common salvation, it was needful for me to write unto you, and exhort you that ye should earnestly contend for the faith which was once delivered unto the saints.

Jud 1:4  For there are certain men crept in unawares, who were before of old ordained to this condemnation, ungodly men, turning the grace of our God into lasciviousness, and denying the only Lord God, and our Lord Jesus Christ.

We are not only fighting for ourselves, we are contending for our next generation. They must see the miracles, they must hear the truth, they must know what it is like to feel the glory of the presence of the power of God. We are fighting for our worship, our modesty, our giving, our prayer, and our fasting. Truth is worth the fight.

1Th 2:2  But even after that we had suffered before, and were shamefully entreated, as ye know, at Philippi, we were bold in our God to speak unto you the gospel of God with much contention.
1Th 2:3  For our exhortation was not of deceit, nor of uncleanness, nor in guile:
1Th 2:4  But as we were allowed of God to be put in trust with the gospel, even so we speak; not as pleasing men, but God, which trieth our hearts.
1Th 2:5  For neither at any time used we flattering words, as ye know, nor a cloke of covetousness; God is witness:
1Th 2:6  Nor of men sought we glory, neither of you, nor yet of others, when we might have been burdensome, as the apostles of Christ.
1Th 2:7  But we were gentle among you, even as a nurse cherisheth her children:

We have been put in trust with this glorious gospel, and regardless of any contention that arises from the world’s hatred of truth we must be bold to speak the Word of God. It is time this generation grow a spine, and fight for our lives. The Psalmist wrote…the zeal  of thine house hath eaten me up. According to Websters the antonym of zeal is apathy- the lack of interest or concern. Where has our concern to please God at all cost gone?
Neh 13:23  In those days also saw I Jews that had married wives of Ashdod, of Ammon, and of Moab:
Neh 13:24  And their children spake half in the speech of Ashdod, and could not speak in the Jews' language, but according to the language of each people.
Neh 13:25  And I contended with them, and cursed them, and smote certain of them, and plucked off their hair, and made them swear by God, saying, Ye shall not give your daughters unto their sons, nor take their daughters unto your sons, or for yourselves.
Neh 13:26  Did not Solomon king of Israel sin by these things? yet among many nations was there no king like him, who was beloved of his God, and God made him king over all Israel: nevertheless even him did outlandish women cause to sin.

Nehemiah contended with his generation, contended against unrighteousness and disobedience. Would we rather have a Nehemiah whom in love corrected us or a false prophet who in deceit led us to believe a lie? Would we quote Nehemiah on our social medias today or would we still quote our regular list of false prophets? When you love truth, you hate every false way and would never willfully bring any type of promotion to a deceiver. Remember God views false prophets much differently than many today:

Rom 16:17  Now I beseech you, brethren, mark them which cause divisions and offences contrary to the doctrine which ye have learned; and avoid them.
Rom 16:18  For they that are such serve not our Lord Jesus Christ, but their own belly; and by good words and fair speeches deceive the hearts of the simple.

2Jn 1:10  If there come any unto you, and bring not this doctrine, receive him not into your house, neither bid him God speed:
2Jn 1:11  For he that biddeth him God speed is partaker of his evil deeds.

From such turn away. We can not bid them God speed in any way if we are to please God. Are we contending or pretending? Phinehas was zealous toward his God and it required of him to take a javelin and destroy iniquity and rebellion from amongst God’s people (Numbers 25:1-13). It will not always be easy, nor without contention in the form of spiritual wickedness but it will always be worth it. It is time some of us find our javelin and fight.

Joh 2:13  And the Jews' passover was at hand, and Jesus went up to Jerusalem,
Joh 2:14  And found in the temple those that sold oxen and sheep and doves, and the changers of money sitting:
Joh 2:15  And when he had made a scourge of small cords, he drove them all out of the temple, and the sheep, and the oxen; and poured out the changers' money, and overthrew the tables;
Joh 2:16  And said unto them that sold doves, Take these things hence; make not my Father's house an house of merchandise.
Joh 2:17  And his disciples remembered that it was written, The zeal of thine house hath eaten me up.

Jesus stood up. Paul stood alone at times and fought a good fight. Will we stand up? Or will we allow the spirit of compromise and slumber to change our thinking concerning false prophets, false doctrine, and unrighteousness. Will we fight for the next generation?

Psalm 106:30-31Then stood up Phinehas, and executed judgment: and so the plague was stayed. And that was counted unto him for righteousness unto all generations for evermore.

The next generation benefited greatly because he stood up. God’s stance on worldliness and carnality has not changed. Modern society may apply pressure to conform but we must continue to be transformed by the Holy Ghost. We must continue to present our bodies a living sacrifice. Stand up for holiness and godliness. Stand up for Acts 2:38, stand up for the Oneness of God. Stand for ladies uncut hair and stand for men to be men. Stand up for the precious blood of Christ and Jesus name baptism. It is still the only way. Stand against the corruption of young innocent minds by Hollywood, stand against the false doctrines of men crept in unaware. Stand with your Pastor, stand with your sister. Stand up for worship, stand up for tithing. Just stand for THE CHURCH.

Neh 4:14  And I looked, and rose up, and said unto the nobles, and to the rulers, and to the rest of the people, Be not ye afraid of them: remember the Lord, which is great and terrible, and fight for your brethren, your sons, and your daughters, your wives, and your houses.

We have so much to fight for, so many souls to win. We have a world of people hurting because of the effects of sin and false doctrine. In love we are to bring them what they lack, not compromise to allow them to continue in the sin that got them in such a condition to begin with. This is why the word of God is so anti- false doctrine and anti- the promotion of false prophets. God wants mankind to come to the knowledge of truth, not for them to be deceived by those not sent of God. Tweet an Apostolic quote, share a Bible verse, post an Acts 2:38 Bible study. But by no means don't show any kind of love for false doctrine.

Phinehas stood up, will we?

The Reality of Hell

The Reality of Hell

Luke 12:16  And he spake a parable unto them, saying, The ground of a certain rich man brought forth plentifully:
Luke 12:17  And he thought within himself, saying, What shall I do, because I have no room where to bestow my fruits?
Luke 12:18  And he said, This will I do: I will pull down my barns, and build greater; and there will I bestow all my fruits and my goods.
Luke 12:19  And I will say to my soul, Soul, thou hast much goods laid up for many years; take thine ease, eat, drink, and be merry.
Luke 12:20  But God said unto him, Thou fool, this night thy soul shall be required of thee: then whose shall those things be, which thou hast provided?

If God where to warn you tonight would be your last night, what kind of preparation would you make? If this where your last day would you be prepared, if your soul was required tonight would you be ready. Each needs to ask themselves that question. Many today believe in heaven, but for some reason do not believe in Hell:

  • Only 59 percent of Americans believe in hell, compared with 74 percent who believe in heaven, according to surveys from the Pew Forum on Religion and Public Life.
  • Research from Barna Associates shows that only 32 percent of adults see hell as “an actual place of torment and suffering where people’s souls go after death. 8% or more of Churchgoers do not even believe in a literal hell.

Mat 10:28  And fear not them which kill the body, but are not able to kill the soul: but rather fear him which is able to destroy both soul and body in hell.

Luke 16:19  There was a certain rich man, which was clothed in purple and fine linen, and fared sumptuously every day:
Luke 16:20  And there was a certain beggar named Lazarus, which was laid at his gate, full of sores,
Luke 16:21  And desiring to be fed with the crumbs which fell from the rich man's table: moreover the dogs came and licked his sores.
Luke 16:22  And it came to pass, that the beggar died, and was carried by the angels into Abraham's bosom: the rich man also died, and was buried;
Luke 16:23  And in hell he lift up his eyes, being in torments, and seeth Abraham afar off, and Lazarus in his bosom. (He has the sense of what he missed out on)
Luke 16:24  And he cried and said, Father Abraham, have mercy on me (Now has a desire for mercy, but now is judgement), and send Lazarus, that he may dip the tip of his finger in water, and cool my tongue (thirst that cannot be fulfilled); for I am tormented in this flame.
Luke 16:25  But Abraham said, Son, remember that thou in thy lifetime receivedst thy good things, and likewise Lazarus evil things: but now he is comforted, and thou art tormented.
Luke 16:26  And beside all this, between us and you there is a great gulf fixed: so that they which would pass from hence to you cannot; neither can they pass to us, that would come from thence. (No Escape)
Luke 16:27  Then he said, I pray thee therefore, father, that thou wouldest send him to my father's house:
Luke 16:28  For I have five brethren; that he may testify unto them, lest they also come into this place of torment.
Luke 16:29  Abraham saith unto him, They have Moses and the prophets; let them hear them.
Luke 16:30  And he said, Nay, father Abraham: but if one went unto them from the dead, they will repent.
Luke 16:31  And he said unto him, If they hear not Moses and the prophets, neither will they be persuaded, though one rose from the dead. (The worm, the conscience that does not die eating at him for all enterity)

This is the Reality of Hell

Let's clarify a few things before we move on..

1st- Hell was not created for humanity
Matthew 25:41  Then shall he say also unto them on the left hand, Depart from me, ye cursed, into everlasting fire, prepared for the devil and his angels:

2nd- Everlasting Destruction is for the Disobedient.
2Th 1:8  In flaming fire taking vengeance on them that know not God, and that obey not the gospel of our Lord Jesus Christ:
2Th 1:9  Who shall be punished with everlasting destruction from the presence of the Lord, and from the glory of his power; (Never ending destruction, NO Escape out of Enteral Death)

3rd- God is just
Many times the question is asked, "how could a good, loving God send anyone to hell."
1st- God sends no one to Hell, your own diobedience and sin places you there. (John 3:16- God made a way for whomsoever will)
Heb 10:28  He that despised Moses' law died without mercy under two or three witnesses:
Heb 10:29  Of how much sorer punishment, suppose ye, shall he be thought worthy, who hath trodden under foot the Son of God, and hath counted the blood of the covenant, wherewith he was sanctified, an unholy thing, and hath done despite unto the Spirit of grace?
All that God did was to give us an opportunity at enteral life. As Peter told the hearers on the day of Pentecost, "save yourselves from this untoward generation." (ACTS 2:38 WAS THE MESSAGE TO SAVE THEMSELVES BY)
Romans 5:12  Wherefore, as by one man sin entered into the world, and death by sin; and so death passed upon all men, for that all have sinned:

Sin will send us to Hell, but God is not willing it be so...

2 Peter 3:9  The Lord is not slack concerning his promise, as some men count slackness; but is longsuffering to us-ward, not willing that any should perish, but that all should come to repentance. (turning, and when you really turn and believe the rest will follow John 3:3-5)

Deut. 32:4  He is the Rock, his work is perfect: for all his ways are judgment: a God of truth and without iniquity, just and right is he.

Rom 3:8  And not rather, (as we be slanderously reported, and as some affirm that we say,) Let us do evil, that good may come? whose damnation is just.

God is just, and he is a just judge. Would a just judge let lawbreakers go unpunished, well neither can a just God let sin go unpunished.

The Reality of Hell

Rev 20:14  And death and hell were cast into the lake of fire. This is the second death.
Rev 20:15  And whosoever was not found written in the book of life was cast into the lake of fire.

Lets get a Bibical description of what we are escaping:

It will be a place of no rest- Rev 14:11  And the smoke of their torment ascendeth up for ever and ever: and they have no rest day nor night, who worship the beast and his image, and whosoever receiveth the mark of his name.
Rest- intermission, no break. Cannot sleep it away.

Torment, Hopelessness of Desires being Fulfilled- Luk 16:23  And in hell he lift up his eyes, being in torments, and seeth Abraham afar off, and Lazarus in his bosom.
Luk 16:24  And he cried and said, Father Abraham, have mercy on me, and send Lazarus, that he may dip the tip of his finger in water, and cool my tongue; for I am tormented in this flame.

Weeping and Gnashing of Teeth- (5 times in New Testament, four in Matthew and once in Luke) Mat 25:30  And cast ye the unprofitable servant into outer darkness: there shall be weeping and gnashing of teeth.  (Place for hyrocrites according to Matthew 24:51, so I would rather be in church than in the world)Outer Darkness (Used three times, all in Matthew)

WE CAN SEE WHY THE BIBLE SAID:
Mar 9:43  And if thy hand offend thee, cut it off: it is better for thee to enter into life maimed, than having two hands to go into hell, into the fire that never shall be quenched:
Mar 9:44  Where their *worm dieth not, and the fire is not quenched.

-*will forever be conscious of the fact that they will never have what they could have had. Worm feeds on soul as worms on body. Accusing, Condemming, and Upbraiding self. Seperation from God, from hope means no escape from constant reminder of What Ifs? Fully Restored Memory of any preaching, any Sunday school class, any warning to escape hell.

This is the Reality of Hell

Bottomless Pit, Lake of Fire, Everlasting destruction, Fire and Brimstone.
This is the Reality of Hell.

Heb 2:1  Therefore we ought to give the more earnest heed to the things which we have heard, lest at any time we should let them slip.
Heb 2:2  For if the word spoken by angels was stedfast, and every transgression and disobedience received a just recompence of reward;
Heb 2:3  How shall we escape, if we neglect so great salvation; which at the first began to be spoken by the Lord, and was confirmed unto us by them that heard him;

Mat 23:33  Ye serpents, ye generation of vipers, how can ye escape the damnation of hell?

Regardless of the unbelievers today Heaven and Hell are both REAL. But A REAL God who loves us wants us to escape the damnation of Hell. For that very reason he manifested himself in flesh and shed blood for our remission:

Acts 22:16 And now why tarriest thou? arise, and be baptized, and wash away thy sins, calling on the name of the Lord.

What are you waiting on, no time to waste: Repent and Believe the gospel. Be baptized in Jesus name for the remission of sins, and recieve the Holy Ghost!

Acts 2:38 Then Peter said unto them, Repent, and be baptized every one of you in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins, and ye shall receive the gift of the Holy Ghost.

And for the backsliders out there, come home:

2 Peter 2:21 For it had been better for them not to have known the way of righteousness, than, after they have known it, to turn from the holy commandment delivered unto them.

Destiny Created

Determining your Destiny
“Our determination determines our destiny.”
“Our decisions determines our destiny.”

Elimelech and Naomi had traveled to the land of Moab during famine, their two sons married Moabite women which for a moment gives Naomi hope in her horrible conditions. Elimelech was now dead, and ten years afterward his two sons die. Naomi is left childless and a widow, so are Orpah and Ruth the two Moabite women who married Naomi's two sons. Naomi hears that the famine in Israel is over and decides to return since she has no kindred in Moab.

Ruth 1:6-18
You must remember Ruth is a nobody in today's terms, many would look at her that way. And being from Moab her nor Orpah should expect to receive any charity from Israel. Ruth had no bright future, as many would never have without the Holy Ghost and the church, but she clave to Naomi and God. Our faithfulness and dependability determine our true love. Orpah kissed and wept, but Ruth clave (joined, stuck together).

Make up in your mind to serve God; broken homes, divorced parents, no matter your background your decisions and determination (your choices and your attitude) determine your destiny. First generation or 5th generation Pentecostal, your background and atmosphere does not always determine your destiny. Your choices and attitude does.

Prefect atmosphere, wrong attitude and choices
Judas- prefect atmosphere, one of the 12. Demas- Prefect situation with Paul.
Devil- prefect situation, sinned when there was no devil. Jeroboam- prefect situation.

Neither had the prefect attitude!
Not so prefect atmosphere, but right choices and attitude
Moses- born in a time of death for infants, lived and chose to follow God.
David- least among his brethren chosen because he had a heart after God.
Abraham- called out of a idol worshiper's home to follow the true God.
Paul- persecuted the church, God changed him.

Your determination and choices determine your destiny, not your current circumstances.

As widows do Ruth went to glean in Boaz's field who was kin to Naomi.

Ruth 2:11-12, Ruth 4:13-15.

Boaz
Rahab, the harlot, made a decision to house spies sent to spy out Jericho. One of those spies was Salmon, and God spared Rahab and her family. She made a decision that changed her destiny, who before was a nobody. She had a child with that spy named Salmon, his name was Boaz. See destiny being created by attitude and choices.
So Ruth crosses paths with another person who came from a nobody that God made into a somebody. And from Ruth and Boaz came a son named Obed and from him came Jesse and from Jesse came King David. Wow the creation of a destiny by determination and decisions to serve God.

Matthew 1:5 And Salmon begat Booz of Rachab; and Booz begat Obed of Ruth; and Obed begat Jesse;
